Whirled News
Whirled News brings you a fresh perspective on music of the world. They play distinctive groove-driven music inspired by American jazz and blues; Brazilian choro, samba and bossa nova; European art music; and Afro-pop from Havana, Harare, Harlem, and beyond. The resulting brew defies simple classification, but it's always exciting, lyrical and soulful.
Whirled News is led by Tom Bergeron and Keller Coker. They and vibraphonist Adam Bates write much of the band's repertoire. Examples of the Whirled News sound can be heard on the recordings Bugbear, Clovis, Mukilteo and Leopard's Tale; as well as on Foovy, Jobim Now, and Western Rebellion, which also feature Bergeron and/or Coker.
